These instructions apply to all SMU full time employees and students.
To get to the download for SPSS, log into https://samuelmerritt.apporto.com
Click on the app download link.
PC
Click Download on the SPSS app.
The following is very important:
Right-click the download file, select "extract" or "Unzip".
Choose a location for the extract/unzipped folder.
You will see a lot of files, you can ignore all of them except for one, called "install.bat" (it may just show as "install").
Within that unzipped/extracted folder, right click the "install.bat" / "install" file and click run as administrator.
This will install SPSS and license it.
(note employees may need IT to help install due to administrative rights restrictions.

Mac OSX
Click Download on the SPSS app.
Double click the downloaded file.
Double click the pkg file to install.
Use default options during install.
The following is very important:

Licensing on Mac OSX
Open SPSS. It will open the licensing dialogue box.
Click "Launch License Wizard".
The "authorization code" is included in the downloaded installation folder.
Choose "Authorized user license" not "Concurrent user license".
Copy/Paste the "authorization code" from the download file into the box.
Click Add, and click next and next, to finish the process.
