Zoom Install and Sign in Guide

Installing the Zoom application on your computer or mobile device provides you with additional settings, such as virtual backgrounds or audio settings, that may not be available from the Zoom web portal. For instructions on how to install the Zoom application, see below.

Note: If you are installing Zoom on a Mac, your OS will need permissions to allow Zoom to operate correctly. Refer to Zoom's article, "Using Zoom with MacOS," to ensure the needed permissions are enabled.

Installing Zoom on Your Computer

1. Go to the Zoom web portal log in page at https://samuelmerritt.zoom.us/

2. At the bottom, click on the Download Client link

3. The installer appropriate for your operating system will begin downloading

4. Once the download is complete, run the installer and walk through the installation steps.

5. To sign in, Be sure to use SSO sign in button and put “samuelmerritt” (minus the quotes) if you see that option. This will redirect to your SMU account sign in.

 

Installing Zoom on a Tablet, iPad or Phone

1. Go to the app store or google play store and find the app and download there. Be sure to use SSO sign in and put “samuelmerritt” (minus the quotes) if you see that option. This will redirect to your SMU account sign in.

 

Note: If you are experiencing issues with the performance of the Zoom app, please check the status of your internet service provider, as well as your local network or wireless access point(s), before submitting a ticket.
